Refresher course for personnel filling the position as coxswain on Skid Lifeboats, within offshore and maritime industries. The course covers the guidelines by Norwegian Oil and Gas
for the refresher course for coxswains.
Prerequisites
Basic safety training.
Basic coxswain course, preferably with a skid lifeboat.
Objective
Upon completion of the course, delegates should be able to:
-Prepare the lifeboat for evacuation
-Organise and direct mustering and embarkment
-Communicate via radio, internally in the lifeboat and with emergency control
- Launch lifeboat from the installment and drive to a safe zone
-Prepare for staying onboard
- Handle emergency systems and equipment for different conditions onboard.
* Raising the boat, turning and towing of raft (STCW).
Course content
All practical exercises will be done using a simulator.
Exam
Delegates are evaluated during all practical training.
If the delegate is evaluated as not having met the requirements set out in the competency
plan, they will not pass the course.
