Target group
The Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities is for any person working, or planning to work, commercially in waters that are bound by the STCW Convention & Code.
Prerequisites
There are no training pre-requisites for this course.
Objective
The objective of the Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities course is to give all persons intending to go to sea, a basic induction in safety procedures and accident prevention and to familiarise them with the employment and working environment on board merchant vessels.
Course content
The Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities course covers a variety of topics including: • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment • Observe Safe working practises • Understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties • Contribute to effective human relationships onboard ship.
Exam
Delegates will be continually assessed against the course contents and requirements of the STCW code. Upon completion of the course, delegates will be issued with an MCA-approved Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.
