This combined training programme is designed to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a rebreather emergency breathing system (EBS) during offshore helicopter travel and for personnel currently travelling and transferring by boat to an offshore oil and gas installation.
Prerequisites
The FOET (with EBS) is open to persons who have a valid (in-date) OPITO-approved BOSIET (with CA-EBS), BOSIET, TBOSIET, FOET (with CA-EBS), FOET or TFOET certificate.
ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)
HEALTH: All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
Objective
The aim and objective of this course is that delegates will gain further understanding and awareness of emergency response procedures on offshore installations and the safety procedures associated with traveling by Helicopter (including EBS) and Boat including safely transferring to or from an offshore installation.
Course content
Delegates will receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas:
Helicopter Safety & Escape:
a) Use of Emergency Breathing System (EBS) equipment.
b) Practical emergency escape training with EBS.
c) Practical emergency ditching and escape training with the use of EBS.
Fire Fighting and Self Rescue:
a) Use of hand held extinguishers.
b) Operation of fixed hose reels.
c) Self rescue techniques in reduced visibility and completely obscured visibility.
d) Use of escape hoods.
Emergency First Aid:
a) Raising the alarm.
b) Immediate First Aid actions including "ABC".
Travel Safely by Boat:
Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and
how they are managed.
An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency.
An increase in their personnel commitment to safety.
Effective use of personnel safety equipment.
Practice and demonstrate correct method of boat
transfers (simulated boat deck and installation).
Exam
OPITO approved certification for Further Offshore Emergency Training & Travel Safely by Boat will be issued on successful completion of the training programme.
The validity of the OPITO certificate is four years.
