Target group
This course is intended for persons performing activities on an onshore mining installation.
Prerequisites
At the start of the training the delegate should be: - In possession of a valid ID (passport or drivers licence) - In possession of a Personal Safety Logbook, when applicable. - Physically fit to attend the course. Note: There are no training pre-requisites for the initial training.
Objective
In the Firefighting Instruction course delegates are provided with knowledge on practical firefighting equipment and get familiarized and train with various types of small extinguishers, fire blankets and a bore hose. After this course delegates should be able to decide which extinguishing agent should be used in the given situation, know the effects of extinguishing and combustible materials present and extinguish a small fire with various types of small extinguishers.
Course content
- explanation and demonstration of various small extinguishing agents. - explanation and demonstration of the effects of extinguishing. - the actual extinguishing of various fires with various extinguishing agents.
Exam
Delegates will be visually assessed by a competent instructor/assessor on the following learning outcomes: - Which extinguishing agent to use in the given situation - Effects of extinguishing and combustible materials present - Extinguishing a small fire with various types of portable extinguishers
