This training course is for all delegates who, under mandatory updating requirements, need to update their STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be in possession of an STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting OR Watch Rating Certificate (STCW II/4 or III/4) OR AB Certificate (STCW II/5 or III/5) OR UK CEC or UK CoC.
Objective
The objective of this training course is to ensure delegates continue to maintain the required level of competence with regards to fire prevention and fire fighting.
Course content
The course covers the following topics;
• The use and safe operation of fire fighting equipment
• Practical fire fighting exercises
• Inspection and safe use of breathing apparatus sets and other associated equipment
Exam
Training will consist of a mix of theoretical and practical elements and delegates will have to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded an MCA-approved Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate.
Certification is valid for 5 years at which point delegates should undertake the Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training programme to remain certified.
