The Major Emergency Management Initial Response (MEMIR) training is directed towards individuals who are either designated as being in charge of, are members of, or provide support to an emergency management team in an emergency.
Prerequisites
Language: All courses are delivered in English, but translators can be arranged accordingly.
ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)
HEALTH: All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
Objective
The aim of the MEMIR Training is to equip personnel with formal training in command, control,
communications and stress-related factors in the management of major emergencies. In addition, this programme also provides initial emergency management training for personnel who are undertaking a training and competence programme to progress to the role of an emergency response manager.
Course content
Delegates will receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas

. Implement predetermined emergency plans and procedures in the context of the
current emergency.
. Efficiently communicate information and instructions.
. Keeping appropriate agencies informed through the support Emergency Response Team.
. Monitor and control resources.
. Evaluate progress and communicate changes in plans and priorities.
. Effectively delegate authority and manage individuals and teams.
. Recognize and deal with stress in themselves and others.
Exam
OPITO approved certification for Major Emergency Management - Initial Response will be issued on successful completion of the training programme.
There is no validity to the certification.
