This course This course is designed in accordance with 46 CFR Part 16.401 and 49 CFR Part 40.391. The course content will provide the delegate with the insight as tow what is expected of a supervisor when it comes to drug and alcohol awareness and how an AP works, the steps followed in making a supervisor referral, and how to avoid common pitfalls when managing troubled employees.
Course content
By the completion of the course, the following topics will be covered:
- the characteristics of an effective supervisor
- the benefits of having an EAP
- the supervisor's role with respect to substance abuse
- the effects of, signs and symptoms of, and issues created with the use of alcohol and
different types of drugs
- identifying techniques to use with non-compliant employees
- determining when to conduct a drug/alcohol test
- being familiar with the procedures used in drug and alcohol testing.
Exam
The candidate will be required to score a minimum competency of 70% on a written exam.
