Persons to be included as the ships operating crew who must operate liferafts, lifeboats and man-over-board boats.
Prerequisites
Before admission to the course the student must
- Be of at least 18 years of age,
- Have the skills: STCW Convention A Code Title VI / 1, paragraph 2, the tables A-VI/1-1, AVI/1-2, AVI/1-3 and A-VI/1-4.
- Have acquired 6 months of service in seagoing merchant vessels with a gross tonnage of 20 or more and
- Be in possession of valid health certificate for seafarers.
Note: Persons who do not pre-course has reached the required time of service in seagoing merchant vessels will be permitted to attend the course but can not obtain certificate of competence before sufficient service is achieved.
Objective
After completion of the course, the delegate must meet the qualification requirements in accordance with the STCW Code Table A-VI/2-1
Course content
Operation and construction of:
- Liferafts
- Lifeboats
- Man-over-board boats
- Life saving appliances
Life-saving first aid, haemorrhage, shock and hypothermia.
Exam
None, but all course must be completed whit satisfaction for handing out certificate.
