The Certificate of Proficiency in Elementary First Aid is for any person working, or planning to work, commercially in waters that are bound by the STCW Convention & Code.

There are no training pre-requisites for this course.
Objective
The objective of the Certificate of Proficiency in Elementary First Aid course is to give all persons intending to go to sea, a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency onboard ship.

The Certificate of Proficiency in Elementary course covers a variety of topics including: • First aid principles • Casualty recovery and rescue • Casualty assessment • Recovery position • Control of bleeding • Bandaging and dressings • Management of shock and burns
