The design expert course (morning) is intended for employees of engineering firms, energy companies and installation companies with their own design departments that design medium-voltage installations in-house.
Prerequisites
To follow the course in designing high-voltage installations, you must not only have experience with high voltage, but also have completed level 4 electrical engineering training as defined by the Adult and Vocational Education Act. This level corresponds to a secondary education in electrical engineering (MBO/MTS-E, TBI or TSI), but can also be achieved with sufficient knowledge and experience from practice. Many candidates first choose to take the high-voltage expert (HSD) course before participating in this course.
Objective
In the Netherlands, high-voltage installations must comply with NEN-EN-IEC 61936-1 and NEN-EN 50522 (safety regulations for high-voltage installations). They must also comply with the ‘connection conditions’ determined by the Office of Energy Regulation. The standards for high voltage are less detailed than the standard (NEN 1010) for low voltage installations. The standard contains virtually no instructions regarding the technical aspects of high voltage installations. The design and implementation of the installation is therefore largely left to the constructor.
The Design Expert for High-Voltage Installations training module will teach you skills in designing safe and reliable high-voltage installations. You will learn to guarantee the safety of activities in which a high-voltage installation poses a risk. And you will prevent financial damage caused by production processes grinding to a halt when an installation breaks down.
Course content
The design expert course (morning) covers the following subjects:
Design criteria
Short-circuit calculations in high-voltage installations
Short-circuit calculations according to IEC60909
