Objective
To develop skills required to dismantle, prepare, secure and reassemble mechanical joint connection systems.
Course content
Understand health, safety, legislation and quality controls procedures related to mechanical joint connections
Understand preparation of work areas, equipment, tools, components, and materials for mechanical joint connection tasks
Understand how to perform mechanical joint connection tasks
Understand how to reinstate the work area, equipment, and materials after completing the mechanical joint connection task
Understand tightening and torqueing sequences for flanged connections
Understand hydraulic tightening and torqueing sequences for flanged connections
Prepare work areas, equipment and materials for bolted connection tasks
Perform hand torqued bolted connections
Perform hydraulically torqued bolted connection activities
Exam
Successful candidates will be awarded an ECITB approved certificate which is valid for 12 months., and a Work Based Task Assignment book.
A workplace consolidation period of 3 month to 12 months is required to give the new worker the opportunity to complete the Work Based Task Assignment and move onto relevant technical test.
If a new worker does not complete the Work based Task Assignment within the 12 month period after training then they will not be allowed to take the technical test and will have to attend the training course again and complete a new WBTA
