Small Bore Tubing Technical Testing with the associated ECITB certificate of achievement plays a key role in validating a candidates skill, ability and job knowledge in a specific task or activity. Each Technical Test contains 10 questions and a practical activity on the specified test.
Prerequisites
Newly Trained Workers - SBT01 Training certificate and a completed Work based Task assignment logbook
Existing Workers - company letter of endorsement confirming attendance of previous SBT or instrument pipework training or copies of pertinent ECITB certificates
Candidate undertaken re-assessment - in date TSBT02 certificate (if this is expired candidate will require a company letter of endorsement confirming SBT activities are regularly carried out)
Objective
To ensure a candidate has the knowledge and ability to identify faults and defects with SBT assemblies, disassemble SBT assemblies, rectify faults and defects and reinstall SBT assemblies by selecting and using the correct materials, tools, fittings, clamps and supports in accordance with the P&ID and specification sheet
Course content
The candidate must:
1. Identify faults and defects in the test SBT assembly in accordance with the test P&ID and specification sheet.
2. Correctly depressurise and disassemble the SBT assembly in accordance with approved procedures.
3. Rectify all SBT assembly faults and defects using correct fittings, tube and components in accordance with P&ID and specification sheet.
4. Reinstall rectified SBT assembly in accordance with P&ID and specification sheet.
5. Under the supervision of assessment centre examiner, conduct a successful assembly pressure test as specified in test instructions.
6. Reinstate the work area and correctly store all tools.
Exam
The candidate is expected to complete the tests, being observed using correct methods and techniques to complete the planning activities using safe and appropriate working practices to achieve a ‘PASS’. Where the candidate does not achieve the set criteria this is recorded as ‘REFERRED’ and a brief note recorded on the criteria not met in the test activity.
The candidate must record a PASS in all practical test sections and score a minimum of 80% in the multiple choice section.
Successful candidates attain the ECITB certificate of achievement which is valid for a period of 3 years.
