ECITB Mechanical Joint Integrity TMJI10 Dismantling, Assembling and Hand Torque Flanged Joints

Candidates who required complete a formal assessment of their job knowledge, skills and ability in each Mechanical Joint Integrity subject.

New Workers only: A) ECITB MJI Approved Course Certificate B) Completed Work Based Task Assignment signed off by the supervisor (Completed within 12 months of the training course) Experienced Workers: A) Previous Certificate of Bolting training (where applicable) B) Company Letter of Endorsement Existing Workers: A) Previous ECITB Certificate of Achievement B) Company Letter of Endorsement (where applicable)

To ensure a candidate has the skills, knowledge and ability to dismantle, inspect, prepare, assemble and secure 4 bolt and 8 bolt flanged joints.

Knowledge Test: The knowledge test requires an 80% pass rate and on successful completion of the knowledge test the candidate will proceed to a practical activity test against identified test criteria Practical Test The examiner must observe the candidate following the 7 activities below: **Note at least 1 connection must be a 4 bolt flanged joint, and at least 1 must be an 8 bolt flanged joint** 1. Prepare work areas for the dismantling, preparation and securing of flanged pipe joints 2. Prepare equipment for the dismantling, preparation and securing of flanged pipe joints 3. Prepare materials for the dismantling, preparation and securing of flanged pipe joints 4. Dismantle the flanged joints 5. Inspecting and reporting on condition of 3 flanges examples not part of the main test 6. Prepare, assemble check squareness of flange joints and secure flanged joints 7. Reinstate the work area after the preparation and securing of flanged pipe joints The examiner must measure and check that the candidate has achieved: • The accurate assembly and securing of the two flanges to within set tolerance
