Prerequisites
The STCW Security Awareness for all Seafarers course should be successfully completed as a pre-requisite of this course. Prior to commencing the course, all candidates are required to supply a date of birth.
Objective
The course is available in the following languages: English; Danish. This security awareness course is designed to provide seafarers who have designated security duties, as per ship security plan, with the necessary knowledge to effectively implement ship security. This course is specifically designed to provide the additional ‘designated duties’ information not covered in the original STCW Security Awareness for all Seafarers course. The STCW Security Awareness for all Seafarers course should be successfully completed as a pre-requisite of this course. The course is aligned to Chapter 11-2 of SOLAS 74, as amended in the ISPS code, and section A-6/6-2 of the STCW code. The course or certificate is not flag state approved at this time.

LO00: Course Introduction LO00: Course Aim LO01: Current Security Threats LO02: Key Roles and Terminology LO03: Security Responsibilities LO04: Introduction LO05: Explain existing security levels LO06: State the purpose of the Ships Security assessment (SSA) and the areas of ship security that it should include LO07: Describe the areas of responsibility that seafarers with designated duties will have and where these areas will be defined LO08: Recognise the security measures required for ship access control at the MARSEC levels LO09: Recognise the security measures required for restricted areas at the MARSEC levels LO10: Recognise the security measures required for cargo handling at the MARSEC levels LO11: Recognise the security measures required for delivery of ships stores at the MARSEC levels LO12: Recognise the security measures required for baggage handling at the MARSEC levels LO13: Recognise the security measures required for ship monitoring at the MARSEC levels LO14: Describe the types of security equipment which may be found on board a ship LO15: Recall the elements which should be considered prior to commencing a ship search LO16: Identify areas of the ship that should be covered as part of a search LO17: Explain the basic psychology of a crowd in a crisis situation LO18: Recognise the importance of communication during a crisis situation
