Objective
The aim of this course is to provide the level of knowledge required to implement an Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) in compliance with the European Union Ship Recycling Regulations (EU SRR) as defined in EU Regulation No 1257/2013. The course or certificate is not flag state approved at this time.
Course content
LO01: State the objectives of the IHM legislation. LO02: Explain the history of the IHM development. LO03: Define the legislative obligations of the IHM. LO04: Describe the requirements of the IHM. LO05: Recognise the IHM requirements for new ships. LO06: Recognise the IHM requirements for ships in operation. LO07: Describe the IHM survey process. LO08: Identify the responsibilities for maintaining an IHM. LO09: Recognise stores which come under the IHM. LO10: Recognise operationally generated waste which comes under IHM. LO11: Identify potential IHM threats associated with shipbreaking activities. LO12: State the IHM elements relevant to recycling. LO13: List the benefits of controlled IHM dismantling.
