The HERTL Further Training course is for existing helideck emergency response team leaders who are required to revalidate their OPITO HERTL certification by refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills in aspects of their role that they cannot practice in the workplace.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be in possession of;
- A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate
or
- A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate
or
- A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training certificate and a valid Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) certificate and a valid Offshore Emergency Response Team leader (OERTL) Certificate.
Learners must also hold a valid, current offshore medical certificate or possess an operator approved medical certificate and complete an appropriate medical screen form provided by RelyOn Nutec.
Training activities contained within this Product may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully
Objective
The aim and objectives of the HERTL Further Training Programme is to refresh elements of HERTL training that cannot be completed in the workplace and updating HERTLs on key changes to helicopter operations, systems, relevant legislation and regulation over the previous 2 years (approx.)
Course content
HERTM Further (Practical Exercises)
Outcome 1: Carry out effective emergency response to incidents on or around a Helideck
Outcome 2: Use firefighting equipment correctly
Outcome 3: Execute search and rescue activities
HERTL Further Training
Outcome 1: All aspects of helideck operations and helicopter emergency response
Outcome 2: Leading an effective emergency response to incidents on or around a Helideck
Outcome 3: Leading the use of firefighting equipment correctly
Outcome 4: Directing search and rescue activities
Exam
The learning outcomes of this course will be assessed through practical exercises.
Upon completion of the course, learners will be awarded with an OPITO-approved Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training certificate.
Certification is valid for 2 years. Prior to expiry delegates must retake the HERTL Further Training course to remain certified.
Guided learning hours note: For the HERTM, HERTM Further Training, HERTL and HERTL Further Training programmes, the guided learning hours may differ to accommodate company/installation emergency response teams. However all other requirements of the Product must be met, unless stated otherwise.
