The aim of this course is to provide an awareness of the health and safety issues concerned with breaking containment. It also explains the hazards of the process contents, how the risks are controlled and how to break containment safely.

LO3: Identify legislation and Health and Safety Executive guidance for breaking containment
LO4: Describe the risk assessment process for a break in containment
LO5: Explain the hierarchy of controls
LO6: Describe the preparation of plant and equipment for a break in containment
LO7: Identify the dangers of draining, venting purging and flushing
LO8: Identify appropriate personal protective equipment for use during breaking containment
LO9: Explain how safety is maintained in the workplace during a break in containment
LO10: Identify the components of the work control documents for breaking containment
LO11: Describe safe breaking containment practices
Exam
The assessment is taken during the course and is within the expected duration.
