Objective
The course is available in the following languages: English; Norwegian; Danish. The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the chemical’s characteristics, dangers, environmental and efficiency advantages, and its safety requirements in the workplace. The course is aimed at personnel who are not expected to handle ammonia directly, but need to know how to respond in an emergency situation.

LO1: Explain ammonia production, its uses and its benefits LO2: Describe the properties of ammonia LO3: Describe the effects of ammonia on the human body LO4: Recognise the potential risks associated with ammonia refrigeration systems LO5: List the legislation regulating ammonia in the workplace LO6: Explain workplace exposure limits in relation to ammonia exposure LO7: Explain how ammonia and its hazards can be identified LO8: Describe the workplace control measures and the selection of controls LO9: Explain safe work practices LO10: Explain the requirements for monitoring and health surveillance LO11: Explain the requirement for contingency planning LO12: Explain plant room controls for storage of ammonia  LO13: Explain how ammonia might be released LO14: Describe the personal protective equipment available LO15: Describe emergency response actions
