Target group
The Sparrows Simulator-based Offshore Crane Development Stage 3 training is designed for personnel who have completed the offshore crane operator Stage 3 or equivalent but are not getting regular exposure to live operations.
Prerequisites
Delegates must hold relevant Stage 3 certification.
Objective
The aim of this course is to enhance the candidate's competence at a Stage 3 level in progressing towards the Stage 3 Offshore Crane Operator reassessment. During the Stage 3 reassessment the candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the ability to consistently, independently and safely perform this safety critical role of Offshore Crane Operator.
Course content
The course is conducted on a crane simulator and covers the following areas in a simulated offshore environment: • Health and safety legislation • Safety devices • Safe working loads • British standard hand signals • Rated capacity indicators • Pre-operational checks / shutdown procedure • Practical instruction and exposure covering various operating techniques onboard various types of installations, sea states, environmental conditions, day/night shift scenarios, in order to further develop the candidate in progression towards a Stage 3 reassessment
Exam
Following this training, additional Stage 3 development hours can be recorded in the candidate's logbook if held. No certification is issued.
