The Sparrows Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 Re-Assessment is designed for personnel who have completed the Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 course and are required to refresh their certificate bi-annually or if the certificate has not been superseded by a Stage 3 assessment.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have completed the Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 course and provide evidence of their certification to be verified before attending.
Objective
The Sparrows Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 Re-Assessment verifies that individuals have the ability to consistently, independently and safely perform this safety critical role. The course covers advanced knowledge and demonstration of operating ability. Successful completion enables delegates to carry out deck lifts unsupervised.
Course content
The course covers:
• Health and safety legislation
• Basic crane terminology
• Principles of stability
• Basic mechanical principles
• Safety devices
• Safe working loads
• British standard hand signals
• Rated capacity indicators
• Pre-operational checks / shutdown procedure
• Introduction to wire ropes
• Practical instruction covering the operating techniques to:
o Contribute to integrated safe systems of work
o Carry out pre-start checks and inspections
o Lift, transfer and position loads
o Respond to hand signals and radio instruction.
Exam
Delegates who complete the course will receive their Sparrows Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 Re-assessment certificate.
The certification is valid for two years. If the delegate does not complete Stage 3 before this certificate expires, they are required to undertake the Stage 2 re-assessment again to remain certified and ensure ongoing competence.
