Target group
Personnel working in the wind industry or related fields needing to obtain their GWO BST Fire Awareness Module certificates.
Prerequisites
All personnel participating in Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
Objective
The aim of this course is to give the participants the basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to prevent fires, conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel to ensure all are safely evacuated and accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire and, if it is judged to be safe, to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic hand held firefighting equipment.
Course content
The GWO Manual Handling module covers the following eight lessons: • Introduction • Legislation • Fire Combustion and Fire Spread • Fire Extinguishing • Fire Prevention • Firefighting Equipment in a WTG • Practice and Scenario-based Training • Evaluation
Exam
Delegates shall be assessed according to the learning outcomes by means of direct observation and oral and/or written questions, where appropriate.
