Objective
This course aims to equip learners with the minimum level of training that safety representatives, who have been elected under the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations - SI 1989/971, should receive to assist them to fulfil their functions as defined in those regulations. This aim will be achieved by ensuring their ability to meet the following objectives: Understand workforce Engagement Framework Understand Major Accident Hazards Understand Proactive Safety Representative Involvement
Course content
Safety Representative Key Roles and Functions Asset Safety Legislation Regulatory Inspector Engagement and their role Participate in a group discussion on work experience Accessing and extracting relevant safety case information The role of the Safety Representative in preparing for visitors and inspections Major Accident Hazard Prevention Human Factors in Major Accident Hazards Risk Assessment and Investigation Proactive Safety Inspections Identifying and controlling major accident hazards using the bow-tie model A review of a relevant case study Core tasks relating to Major Incident Investigations Personal Effectiveness A series of task related exercises related to the Safety Representative’s Role Developing a personal action plan
Exam
Successful learners will be awarded an OPITO approved Offshore Safety Representative Initial Training certificate which has no expiry date
