Prerequisites
STCW BT (Basic Training) certificate.
Objective
Meet the requirements as described in the STCW convention ('78 as amended), section A-VI / 4, Table A-VI / 4-1, Chapter VI (medical first aid). Pursuant to the Seafarers Act, the captain and everyone in charge of medical care on board must be in possession of the 'Medical First Aid' certificate.

Course content
During the course, the emphasis is on systematically understanding the situation of the patient, contact about this with the Radio Medical Service. First aid, general knowledge of disease theory and the matching skills. The emphasis is on illness, nursing and patient care. Performing investigations and medical operations that may be necessary on board.
Exam
The certificate is issued on the basis of attendance and the performance of all prescribed actions and / or skills.
