Digital T-BOSIET training is to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who choose to complete the underpinning knowledge of the T-BOSIET programme via the T-BOSIET online programme prior to attending an OPITO approved training centre to be formally assessed against all learning outcomes.
Prerequisites
Training entry and medical entry requirements must be met. Learners must complete all online elements contained in the T-BOSIET on line programme prior to attending an OPITO-approved training centre to be formally assessed against all outcomes within 90 days of completing the online elements.
Training activities contained within this Product may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully. Trainees will undergo a medical screening by completing an appropriate medical declaration form at center.
Objective
The objectives of the Digital T-BOSIET training are that learners will be able to:
1. Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.
2. Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts.
3. Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
4. Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques.
5. Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practise self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, including smoke-filled areas.
Course content
This course covers the following content:
1. Basic Safety Induction.
2. Helicopter Safety and Escape Training.
3. Sea Survival.
4. Basic First Aid.
5. Fire Fighting and Self-Rescue.
6. TEMPSC (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft).
Exam
To achieve the T-BOSIET training, the learners will need to complete the 4 mandatory T-BOSIET units.
