This Tropical FOET (T-FOET) with Shallow Water CA-EBS is to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry in a tropical environment and who require additional Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA EBS) training.
Prerequisites
Training entry and medical entry requirements must be met. The Tropical FOET with Shallow Water CA-EBS training is open to persons who have a valid (in-date) OPITO approved BOSIET, BOSIET (with CA-EBS), TBOSIET, FOET, FOET (with CAEBS) or TFOET certificate.
Training activities contained within this Product may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully. Trainees will undergo a medical screening by completing an appropriate medical declaration form at center.
Objective
This Product introduces learners with the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills that are not possible to practice during drills, exercises and emergency training offshore. It also is to complement the assessment for personnel travelling to an offshore oil and gas installation by helicopter when issued with a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS).
The objectives of the Tropical FOET are that learners will be able to:
(a) Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
(b) Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke-filled areas.
(c) Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid.
The objectives of the additional CA-EBS training delivered in addition to the T-FOET program are to:
(a) Ensure learners are familiar with the use of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)
(b) Ensure that learners understand their basic emergency response actions during a helicopter emergency using the CA-EBS
Course content
The topics covered during this training are:
1. Further Helicopter Safety and Escape – Tropical using a Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS)
2. Helicopter Emergencies with Use of Compressed Air Breathing System
3. Further Firefighting and Self Rescue
4. Further Emergency First Aid
Exam
The learner will need to complete the 3 mandatory T-FOET units and the 1 Shallow Water CA-EBS mandatory unit.
