The aim of this course is to give you an awareness of how to safely use hand tools and portable power tools. You will learn about the types of tools commonly used in the oil and gas and energy industry, looking in detail at both manual and powered hand tools. You will gain an understanding on the potential hazards and associated injuries, along with practical advice and knowledge on the rules and preventative measures that you should take to reduce risk and operate safely in the workplace.

Understand the basic safety rules for working with hand tools
Identify the three energy sources for portable power tools offshore
Explain the pros and cons of each power tool energy source
Explain the prevention of hazards through maintenance
