Target group
Personnel who have had little or no training experience in rigging and lifting operations.
Prerequisites
No prior training is required to attend this training programme.
Objective
The aim of this course is to deem candidates competent according to the OPITO standard and to begin the second stage of their training in the workplace under supervision.
Course content
• Provide an understanding of initial planning • Attaching / detaching and securing loads • Environmental considerations • Proximity hazards • De-rating of equipment • Pre use equipment checks • Thorough examination and inspection • Preparation of a lifting plan • Sling angles • Effects of angles & tensions • Delegates will work in teams to examine lifting machinery and accessories then plan and undertake routine rigging tasks. Including cross-hauling methods. • Delegates will work in teams to undertake various Complex rigging tasks. • Delegates will be required to individually plan given rigging tasks assessed on their knowledge and skills learned.
Exam
On completion of this course, a written assessment will be taken.
