This training is targeted at personnel who will be required to use a Self - Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) set at some time in the course of carrying out their duties while at work.
Prerequisites
There is no pre-requisite for delegates attending this training.
However, delegates must be physically capable of meeting the requirements of the course.
Objective
This course is designed to provide delegates with basic theoretical and practical training in the use of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and provide knowledge of basic guidance and procedures required for the safe and effective operational use of BA as well as first line requirements for inspection, usage and maintenance of SCBA.

The course consists of practical and theoretical training and knowledge of:
• Different types of SCBA sets
• Components of a SCBA
• Limitations of SCBA
• Responsibilities of SCBA Wearers
• Care and basic maintenance of SCBA
• Testing of SCBA before and after use
• Proper donning and doffing of SCBA
• SCBA Procedures
• SCBA control Procedures
• Use of SCBA in confined space
• Use of SCBA in a smoke-filled Environment
• Search and rescue techniques using SCBA
Exam
On completion of this course, a written assessment will be taken.
