Target group
This course is designed for all persons interested in furthering emergency first aid skills, or already take part in an organised first aid scheme, then this course would suit you. This course will also serve as a basic module for health workers.
Prerequisites
No previous first aid knowledge is required for this course.
Objective
During the course, participants would gain a basic level of understanding and awareness of the duties and responsibilities of each individual as well as obtain basic First Aid knowledge. A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. A person's chance of survival falls by about 14%* for each minute that passes without defibrillation. The risk of death can be reduced if you have a defibrillator in your workplace and know how to use it. Every second matters and this one day course will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively. Most importantly, the course will also teach defibrillator operators how to perform effective CPR.
Course content
The course consists of practical and theoretical training and knowledge of: • The role of the First Aider • Managing an emergency • Communication and casualty care • Chest pains • Getting to know the AED (any type) • Operating the AED • Treatment of an unconscious casualty • Resuscitation (CPR) On successful completion of this course delegates will have a good understanding of what is required of them and would have completed a theoretical test, and have participated in the practical content which involves the use of a defibrillator.
Exam
On completion of this course, a written assessment will be taken.
