The Rigger Training Stage 1 is designed for those personnel who have had little or no training and experience in rigging and lifting operations and wishes to gain an OPITO Rigger Training Certificate by completing the OPITO-approved Initial Training Course for riggers in the oil and gas industry.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites required for the Rigger Training Stage 1
ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)
HEALTH: All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
Objective
The aim and objectives of the OPITO Stage 1 Initial Training Programme are to provide the delegate with knowledge of the rigging principles, general hazards and risks of rigging and lifting operations, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulation, and an opportunity to practice basic rigging operations following a lifting plan.
Course content
Delegates will receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas
MODULE 1:
The Role of the Rigger and an Introduction to Lifting Operations
The role of the Rigger
Introduction to lifting operations - relevant legislation and management of the hazards
MODULE 2:
Rigging and Lifting Operations
The principles of rigging
Preparing for the lifting operation
Carrying out the lifting operation
Restoring the work area and post-operation responsibilities
Exam
OPITO approved certification for Rigger Training Stage 1- will be issued on successful completion of the training programme.
The validity of the OPITO certificate is two years.
Delegates should report to reception for 08.00hrs, course starts at 08.15hrs, unless otherwise stated.
