This introductory safety training programme is designed to introduce the fundamental safety elements of the offshore oil and gas industry to new starts, giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by personnel offshore. Each module has been designed to focus the delegates attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing their behaviour and attitude towards their co-workers, the installation and the environment.
Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites required.
Items to Bring: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)
Language: All courses are delivered in English, but translators can be arranged accordingly.
Health: Delegates must be in possession of a valid medical certificate and must complete a medical questionnaire at the beginning of the course.
Objective
The aim and objective of the MIST programme is to introduce delegates to the key safety elements required by all employees working in the oil and gas industry. It also ensures the knowledge and understanding of these basic safety elements are maintained and current amongst the existing workforce.
Course content
Delegates will receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas:
Module 1 Major Accident Hazards
Module 2 Workplace Hazards and Personal Safety
Module 3 Risk Management
Module 4 Control of Work
Module 5 Helicopter Safety
Exam
OPITO approved certification for Minimum Industry Safety Training will be issued on successful completion of the training programme.
Reassessment, via an on-line assessment, will take place every four years or more frequently if persons have not worked in the industry for at least 12 months.
Delegates should report to reception for 08.00hrs, course starts at 08.15hrs, unless otherwise stated.
