Target group
This OPITO approved programme is designed to meet the initial onshore training and assessment requirements for the Offshore Emergency Response Team Members (OERTM), as identified in the Oil & Gas UK guidelines for Competence and Training in Emergency response, to enable them to join Offshore Emergency Response Teams for further installation specific training and development.
Prerequisites
ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. or PASSPORT (original or copy) Health: Delegates must be in possession of a valid medical certificate and must complete a medical questionnaire at the beginning of the course.
Objective
The course consists of theoretical input and practical exercises developed to measure competence relating to the key learning outcomes of the OPITO standard for Offshore Emergency Response Team Member initial training. Theory input 25% Practical exercises 75% Delegates will be assessed against the defined training outcomes of the current OPITO standard.
Course content
The course consists of practical and theoretical training and knowledge of Offshore fire/emergency response arrangements The role of the Emergency Response Team Member Incident planning and monitoring activities Operation of fixed fire systems Emergency Response Team Operations when dealing with non-fire incidents Preparing to enter, and gaining access to the incident area Using best working practices and procedures Locating missing personnel Handling and removing casualties Selecting and using portable fire-fighting equipment Selecting, operating and flushing foam fire-fighting equipment Extinguish a fire and/or securing an area Conducting and controlling breathing apparatus operations Minimising damage to property Maintaining communications
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the defined training outcomes of the current OPITO standard. Once successfully meeting all defined learning outcomes, delegates will be issued an OPITO approved Offshore Emergency Response Team Member certificate which is valid for 2 years Delegates should report to reception for 08.15hrs, course starts at 08.30hrs, unless otherwise stated.
