The Rigger Stage 3 Assessment is for personnel who want to become a Sparrows-certified competent rigger.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have completed formal training and be able to provide evidence. A fully completed, valid logbook based on the Rigger Stage 2 requirements OR a formal letter from the delegate's employer stating that they have met the equivalent of Stage 2 experience are accepted as proof of eligibility for Stage 3 Assessment.
Objective
The aim of the course is to establish that delegates have the required knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfil the role of rigger safely and effectively.
Course content
The course consists of a mix of ongoing theoretical and practical assessment designed to give delegates the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas:
• Effective and safe lifting techniques
• Hazard identification and risk mitigation
• Production of lift plans
• Effective communication with rigging team
• Lifting equipment – storage and inspections
• Health and safety legislation and associated regulations
• Post-lift procedures
Exam
The course is an ongoing assessment during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with a Sparrows-approved Rigger Stage 3 Assessment certificate.
Certification is valid for 2 years. Prior to expiry, delegates must complete either the Stage 3 Re-assessment or the Rigger Stage 4 Re-assessment to remain certified.
