The Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment is for personnel who want to become OPITO re-certified competent banksman and slingers.
Prerequisites
All delegates must hold a valid and in-date OPITO Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment or Competence Re-assessment certificate.
Objective
To establish that the delegate has maintained the required underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfil the role of banksman and slinger safely, effectively and competently.
Course content
Delegates will undertake a practical assessment where they must demonstrate their competency in the following areas:
• Direct and control the movement and placing of loads
– Maintaining clear and accurate communication with crane operator
– Awareness of other ongoing operations which may affect lifting activities.
• Prepare and sling loads
– Establish the weight of the load
– Determining and checking the lifting method
– Lifting accessories
– Slinging of loads
– Clearing the work area.
There will also be a knowledge assessment to test theoretical understanding.
Exam
OPITO accredited Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment certificate is awarded on successful completion of both the knowledge and practical assessments.
The certification is valid for two years.
