Supervisors, area boss, officers and managers of groups of workers who will perform tasks within confined spaces, in restricted areas of access where incoming operators are not trained to manage risks.
Prerequisites
Current Course of Entry into Spaces and Rescue.
Objective
Upon completion of the course the delegate will be able to:
Fully recognize the dangers of a confined space.
Evaluate the risks corresponding to the identified hazards.
Require and dispose of risk management controls in confined spaces.
Request the use of the specific PPE according to the risks.
Determine the equipment, methods and application of air pollution control.
Monitoring of atmospheric verification certificates and confirmation of safe space for entry.
Course content
The following topics are covered during the training:
Introduction.
Define confined space with required permission.
Identification of confined spaces in your workplace.
The five types of polluted atmospheres.
Physical hazards that can be found in confined spaces.
Preparation of permits for entry into confined spaces (Risk management).
Risk control techniques.
Selection and inspection of respiratory protection equipment.
Recognition of acceptable atmospheric conditions for entry.
Ability to inspect, test, verify and evaluate confined spaces.
Determine the need to re-evaluate the confined space.
(The eight rules to control polluted atmospheres).
Prescription of the type of ventilation required (if necessary).
