Target group
Persons who are part of the Emergency Response Team onboard a mining installation, responsible for firefighting and rescue and are being assigned as HLO
Prerequisites
- Valid medical certificate. The delegate shall be medically fit for the use of a breathing apparatus registered in the Personal Safety Logbook. The delegate shall be in the possession of a valid registration of the: - Basic or Refresher NOGEPA HLO course 1.1a or b. and - Basic or Refresher Course "Member Fire-fighting and rescue Team" (2.6A/B) in case of refuelling activities are taken place on the installation. - In case no refuelling is taken place on the installation, the basic or Refresher Course "Firefighting Helicopters" (2.9A/B) - or OPITO equivalent certification.
Objective
By participating in this training the delegates will uphold their knowledge and improve their skills in relation to fire fighting and rescue. They will work as a team and use fire fighting equipment and techniques applicable for mining installations.
Course content
Contents 2.6B - The role of a fire-fighting and rescue team - Reacting to alarms e.g. proceeding to muster station, selecting and donning the required PPE - Principles and procedures of a fire-fighting and rescue team - Working with breathing equipment - Rescue of victims - Use of fire-fighting equipment - Fire-fighting on indoor, plant and helicopter fires - Assistance at incidents, e.g. gas escapes, oil and chemicals spills, etc. - Cleaning and maintenance of used equipment - Maintaining effective communication - Escape from smoke filled areas by using an escape mask 1.1B - Uphold knowledge to HLO - Uphold knowledge to helideck and refueling - Documentation and Dangerous Goods - Refueling exercise - Emergency response exercise - Drill development and execution
Exam
The delegate should efficiently perform all techniques mentioned in the learning targets under continuous observation by the instructor during practical exercises and will be assessed, against the learning outcomes, using direct observation.
