The HERTM training course is for personnel who are to be appointed to the role of a Helideck Emergency Response Team Member.
Prerequisites
Learners must be in possession of a valid:
OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate.
Learners must also hold a valid, current offshore medical certificate or possess an operator approved medical certificate and complete an
appropriate medical screen form provided by RelyOn Nutec.
Objective
The aim and objectives of the HERTM Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegate with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Helideck Emergency Response Team Member effectively.
Course content
Helideck Emergency Response Preparedness
Outcome 1: The key role and key responsibilities of the HERTM
Outcome 2: The main elements of helideck emergency response plan
Outcome 3: Types of potential offshore helideck emergencies
Outcome 4: The general firefighting safety goals and objectives
Outcome 5: The purpose of typical helideck emergency systems and controls
NUI Emergency Response
Outcome 1: The main differences between helideck emergency response on a main fixed or floating installation and a normally unattended installation (NUI)
Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM)
Outcome 1: Human factors affecting emergency response
Outcome 2: Emergency response hazards, equipment and controls
Outcome 3: Firefighting equipment used in emergency response
Outcome 4: Search and rescue principles involved in emergency response
Outcome 5: Carrying out effective emergency response to incidents on or around a Helideck
Outcome 6:Using firefighting equipment correctly
Outcome 7: Executing search and rescue activities
Exam
The course is a mix of both practical and theoretical sessions during which learners will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and
understanding of the course contents and undergo direct observation.
Upon completion of the course, learners will be awarded with an OPITOapproved Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) certificate Certification is valid for 2 years. Prior to expiry learners must undertake the Further HERTM course to remain certified.
Note: Training activities contained within this Product may include
physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully.
Guidance learning hours note: For the HERTM, HERTM Further Training, HERTL and HERTL Further Training programmes, the guided learning hours may differ to accommodate company/installation emergency response teams. However all other requirements of the Product must be met, unless stated otherwise.
