This training course is for personnel who will be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA)
Prerequisites
As a minimum, learners must have completed Dangerous Goods by Air training course in accordance with Part 1, Chapter 1.4 of the ICAO Technical Instructions and sub section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Category 7, 8 or 9 or state aviation approved dangerous goods awareness training course
Learners must also hold a valid, current offshore medical certificate or possess an operator approved medical certificate AND complete an appropriate medical screening form provided by RelyOn Nutec.
Objective
This Product aims to equip the learner with the initial knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively.

Outcome 3: Helicopter and helideck hazards
Outcome 4: Helicopter refuelling equipment
HLO and HDA Responsibilities during Helicopter Landing and Departure
Outcome 1: The roles and key responsibilities of HLOs and HDAs
Outcome 2: HLO and HDA checks, procedures and communications during helicopter operations
Outcome 3: Carrying out HLO checks, procedures and communications during helicopter operations
Outcome 4: Carrying out HDA checks, procedures and communications during helicopter operations
Cargo and Passenger Handling
Outcome 1: Cargo Handling procedures and protocols
Outcome 2: Handling cargo as an HLO
Outcome 3: Handling cargo as an HDA
Outcome 4: Handling passengers as an HLO
Outcome 5: Handling Passengers as an HDA
HLO and HDA: Normally Unattended Installations

*Note: Some parts of this training are stressful and physical demanding.
Exam
The course is a mix of both practical and theoretical sessions during which learners will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and
understanding of the course contents and will undergo direct observation. Upon completion of the course, learners will be awarded with an OPITO approved Helideck Operations Initial Training certificate.
