STCW Elementary First Aid course (A-VI/1-3)
Objective
The aims and objectives of the course are to equip the delegate with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role as seafarer effectively. They will be required to demonstrate their skills and the level of knowledge and understanding of the key elements.

- Examination of the patient
- Spinal Injuries
- Burns, Scalds and effects of Heat and Cold
Fractures, Dislocation and Muscular Injuries
- Medical Care of Rescued Persons, including Distress, Hypothermia and Cold Exposure
- Radio Medical Advice
- Pharmacology
- Sterilization
- Cardiac Arrest, Drowning and Asphyxia
- Psychological / Psychiatric Problems
Exam
Delegates will be judged against the learning outcomes of the STCW Code (A-VI/4-1), as amended, using direct observation and a case scenario.
