Target group
With the history of the failure of lifting equipment, whether its mobile cranes tipping over, or slings, shackles or eyebolts failing for various reasons, inevitably leading to Human Error. Your companys first line of defence should be Pre-Use Inspection. Many companies now employ a second line of in-house defence, in that they have carefully identified staffs who conduct detailed inspection of their lifting equipment, backed up with an inspection report. We will give a presentation to your selected staff covering the legal aspects of inspection followed by a practical inspection of equipment

Objective
This course will enable the delegate to gain a better understanding of the LOLER Regulations and the practical experience of inspecting lifting Equipment and Accessories. This course is a combination of both theory and practical content
Course content
Legislation: British Standards/LOLER/Fleet angles Rope construction and characteristics Wire rope inspection Make up of steel wire ropes, assessment of wire rope condition Cores: Fibre and steel, wire rope maintenance General purpose wire ropes, assessment of discard criteria Round strand ropes, broken wires/wear Different rope lays, localised broken wires Wire rope terminations Eyes and ferrules Rope drums Rope selection for different drums Defects to be considered during inspection Inspection of slings, shackles, chain hoists, pull lifts, tirfors and beam clamps
Exam
On successful completion of this course delegate will have completed a theoretical and participated in practical content relevant to this training On successful completion of this course delegates will be issued and In House Training providers certificate
