This training programme is designed to meet the initial offshore safety and
emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or
returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a
compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during offshore
helicopter travel.
Prerequisites
Delegates must complete all online elements contained in the BOSIET
(with CA-EBS) on line programme - link to the online programme will be
sent to delegates on course booking.
Delegates must attend training centre for formal assessment of all
learning outcomes within 90 days of completing the online elements.
Delegates must hold a valid OGUK (or equivalent) medical AND possess a
certificate of fitness to undertake shallow water CAEBS training issued by a
registered OGUK doctor
OR
A valid ENG 1 Seafarer Medical Fitness Certificate (or equivalent).
Objective
The objectives of the BOSIET (with CA-EBS) TDigital training are that
delegates will be able to:
(a) Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas
installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how
controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.
(b) Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic
safety management concepts
(c) Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety
equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter
emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter
following ditching
(d) Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques
(e) Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment,
and practise self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include
smoke filled areas.
Course content
Delegates will complete the theoretical content of the training programme
via completion of the BOSIET (with CA-EBS) on-line programme prior to
attending training centre to observe live demonstrations, and complete
the assessment of the training programme in the below modules:
Safety Induction
Helicopter Safety and Escape
Sea Survival and First Aid
Firefighting and Self Rescue
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in the
OPITO standard using direct observation and oral and/or written questions
as appropriate.
On successful completion delegates will be awarded an OPITO approved
BOSIET with CAEBS certificate which is valid for 4 years. Delegates will
need to then complete the FOET with CAEBS to remain indate.
