The aim of our combined GWO Working At Height & Manual Handling training course is to guide delegates, through both theoretical and practical training, on how best to use basic PPE & work safely in remote wind turbine environments within the GWO Renewables sector.
Furthermore, the course will promote positive manual handling and encourage proper ergonomic behaviour. We will also drive delegates to consider alternatives to manual handling through careful planning, and guide them on how to perform Manual Handling tasks in a safe manner, within a wind turbine generator or nacelle.
Prerequisites
Delegates shall have created a personal Delegate profile in WINDA and provide their own WINDA ID prior to completing the BTT training. Valid GWO WINDA ID: https://winda.globalwindsafety.org/
Objective
The BST Working at Height with Manual Module shall ensure that:
The participants are able to demonstrate knowledge of hazards and risks associated with working at height specific to a wind turbine generator (WTG) (L2 – Knowledge)
The participants are able to demonstrate understanding of current national and regionallegislation regarding Working at Height (L2 – Knowledge)
The participants are able to demonstrate correct identification of PPE, including identification of European/Global standard markings e.g. harness, hard hat, lanyards, etc. (L3 – Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to correctly perform pre-use inspection, service, store and correctly fit relevant PPE, e.g. harness, fall arrest lanyards, guided type fall arrest devices and work positioning lanyards (L2 – Knowledge & L3 – Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate correct use of the relevant PPE, e.g. harnesses fall arrest lanyards, guided type fall arresters and work positioning lanyards. This includes correct identification of anchor points and correct conduct on ladder (L3 – Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate correct use of evacuation devices (L3 – Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate how to approach rescue situations in WTGs and use rescue equipment efficiently (L3 – Ability and Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate a problem-solving approach to Manual Handling in a wind turbine environment (L3 – Skills)
The participants are able to demonstrate Manual Handling risk reduction techniques (L3 –Skills)
The participants are able to identify aspects of their job tasks that could increase their risk of developing muscular/skeletal injuries (L2 – Knowledge)
The participants are able to demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic work location (L2 – Knowledge)
The participants are able to demonstrate understanding of safe practices of Manual Handling, including the correct handling of equipment (L2 – Knowledge)
