The Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) course is for personnel seeking certification under STCW Regulation V1/2 – training or instruction for ratings, able seafarers, trainee officers and others on board for proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats (other than fast rescue boats).
Prerequisites
Delegates must be in possession of a PST Certificate (from any STCW Country) or Watch Rating Certificate (STCW II/4 or III/4) or AB Certificate (STCW II/5 or III/5) or UK CEC or UK CoC and sea service requirement of a minimum six months (Discharge Book or Letter of sea service).
Training may be undertaken by individuals who have not achieved the sea service requirement of a minimum six months, but the certificate will not be awarded until proof of completion of six months sea service has been provided.
Objective
The objective of the Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat course is to teach delegates to take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch.

• Safely launch and operate a survival craft
• Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
• Use locating devises, including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics
• Apply first aid to survivors
