STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting Route 1 covers Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code (paragraph 5) which states that ‘Seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 4 in advanced fire fighting shall be required, every 5 years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A VI/3.
Prerequisites
Proof of completing the STCW Advanced Fire Fighting or STCW AFF Update training is required.
Seafarers who have a previous Advanced Fire Fighting certificate and have maintained the required standard of competence by onboard training and experience for all competencies listed in the self-declaration form.
Delegates are requested to provide a signed self-declaration form as a pre-requisite to attending the reduced hours entry route of the STCW revalidation course which is provided to you as part of your joining instructions
Objective
There are four outcomes to the training;
Outcome 1 - The learner knows how to control fire fighting operations aboard a ship
Outcome 2 - The learner knows how to organise and train fire parties
Outcome 3 - The learner knows how to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems
Outcome 4 - The learner is able to investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire
