has successfully completed a programme of training approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as meeting
the requirements laid down in:
Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended
and has also met the requirements of article 5, paragraph 3 of EC Directive 92/29/EEC on the minimum safety
and health requirements for improved medical treatment on board vessels.
This Certificate is issued under the authority of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, an executive agency of the Department for Transport.

Hold a valid STCW MCOB cert or Updated STCW MCOB Cert
Objective
There is one outcome to the training Outcome 1: The learner is able to maintain the required standard of competence in providing medical
care and first aid on board a vessel.
Course content
This course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship. It equips you with a sufficient level of knowledge to be able to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illnesses likely to occur.
The course provides a mixture of both practical and theoretical training including:
Care of the casualty
Aspects of nursing
Diseases
Alcohol and drug abuse
Dental care
Gynaecology, pregnancy and childbirth
Medical care of rescued persons
Death at sea
Disease prevention
Record keeping
