This programme is designed to meet the initial offshore training and assessment requirements
for an Offshore Fire Team Leader
Prerequisites
OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member or equivalent
Objective
The aims and objectives of the Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegate with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Offshore Fire Team Leader effectively.
This will be achieved through both theoretical and practical training
Course content
Day 1
Theory:
Role of Fire Team Leader
Teamwork
Fire Spread and events which could lead to an escalation
Communications
Monitoring Stress
PPE
BA Procedures
Day 2
Practical:
B.A set familiarisation (Donning and Doffing)
Stretcher Rescue Equipment - Casualty Handling (Including First Aid)
Table Top Exercises
Day 3
Assessments:
Unit 1: Assess the incident
Review available information or instructions
Confirm the suitability (or otherwise) of any pre-formed plan Plan the response if no pre-formed plan is suitable
Unit 2: Execute the emergency response plan
Monitor and control the use of resources
Evaluate progress and alter plans as appropriate
Determine when incident is complete
Please Note
As the training is delivered offshore, the practical element will not include training on live fires
(This will be carried out as `dry simulations')
Each training day will require approx 7hrs contact time (this does not include lunch and breaks)
