This OPITO approved programme is designed to meet the initial emergency response training and assessment requirements for all prospective standby vessel crew members in accordance with the ERRV standards.
Prerequisites
No prior training is required. Successful delegates will be expected to join an operational SBV crew within 12 months of training, otherwise the course may need to be repeated.
Objective
The course is structured to give an overview of standby vessel operations and the preparation for and execution of rescue, recovery, treatment and care of casualties.
Delegates¿ competence will be assessed continuously against required training outcomes by observation and oral and written questioning and by final assessment by approved assessors.
Course content
The training consists both of classroom theory and practical exercises, and incorporates:
Introduction to ERRV operations
Donning and using personal protective equipment (PPE)
Assisting in the use of casualty recovery devices, casualty handling devices, communications equipment
Basic medical aid onboard an emergency response rescue vessel including, assisting with the receiving, assessing, treating, caring and transferring of casualties
