Objective
• Competence of employee. • Prevention of minor and lost time injuries caused by poor lifting and handling techniques.
Course content
• To firstly seek out mechanical aids to assist with movement of objects in accordance with the Manual Handling Regulations. • Understand how lasting damage can be caused to the lumber region of the back, and other parts of the spine. • Learn how to prevent injuries to self and others. • Demonstrate correct lifting and moving techniques via a practical assessment. • Complete a multi-choice assessment to confirm understanding of what has been taught.
Exam
This is a classroom based course, it will include slide and video presentations; all delegates will complete a short multi-choice written assessment. Office based staff and operatives will complete a practical lifting/handling assessment relevant to their occupations.
