For Gas Safe registered engineers who wish to achieve CESP1 ACS qualification for Emergency Service Providers.
Prerequisites
Sometimes training is required as a pre-requisite to ACS initial assessment e.g. a Qualification or Managed Learning Programme, see Guidance Note 8.When ACS pre-requisites have been attained, training is not compulsory prior to ACS assessment.Re-Assessment - CESP1 or CMA1 (Candidates holding CMA1 may undertake CESP1 Re-assessment and vice versa).
Objective
Compliance with HSE requirements by employees achieving ACS qualifications allowing Gas Safe Registration.
Course content
• Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998.
• Tightness testing and purging.
• Gas industry unsafe situations procedure.
• Scope of operatives work checking and setting regulators.
• Operation and positioning of emergency isolation and warning labels.
• Emergency procedures.
• Pipe-work requirements.
• Ventilation.
• Combustion.
• Chimney standards.
• Re-lighting of domestic appliances.
Exam
The training is delivered on the first 2 days by a combination of theoretical and practical sessions.
The assessment is split into 3 areas, Theory - multiple choice questionnaires (both open and closed book), Practical Observations and Practical Assessment Workbook Scenarios. Candidates must achieve a pass in all 3 areas
