The VHF Radio Short Range Certificate training course is for all individuals who use VHF SRC radio equipment
Prerequisites
Delegates must complete online e-learning element prior to attending approved training centre for the Knowledge and Practical Examination. Login details will be sent via email directly from RYA following course booking.
Objective
The objective of the VHF Radio Short Range Certificate training course is to equip delegates with a greater knowledge and understanding of the short range radio equipment.
Course content
The VHF Radio Short Range Certificate training course covers a variety of topics including:
• Capabilities and limitations of marine band short range radio
• Communication ranges
• Characteristics of the different types of short range radios
• Distress, safety and calling procedures
• Intership communications
• Ship movement
• Public correspondence
• Digital selective calling
Exam
On successful completion of this course delegates would have completed a theoretical test, and have participated in the practical content including an oral examination with the use of computerised simulator.
Successful delegates will be issued a RYA-approved VHF Radio Short Range certificate
